4/21/2008 Update: We are still alive, and are moving to a new home in Lakehead. We missed the chance to purchase an old school bus which would have been perfect for transportation, so we’ll have to do it a little at a time —and keep looking for a reasonably priced bus for future use. Things are wacky since we’re moving, so we won’t be doing any programs until we’re settled. Also, our intake is limited to cockatiels, budgies, lovebirds, and other small birds that can go into our aviaries after they’ve been quarantined.
4/26/2004 Update: I would like to introduce our supporters to iGive.com, a non-profit shopping portal that donates the commissions it earns for online shopping referrals to the charity of your choice. Coventry is registered with iGive.com, so it is possible for you to help Coventry help the birds just by shopping online at your favorite online shops through iGive.com. Signup is very easy, and with iGive, every purchase you make at any one of hundreds of online retailers – including subscribing to your favorite magazines at ValueMag (26% of your purchase), Cabela's (1.6% of your purchase), Eddie Bauer (2.4% of your purchase), and even eBay bids result in a gift going directly to Coventry.
10/24/2003 Update: We are now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!
9/21/2003 Update: With the paperwork done and in the mail, we are excited to announce that our nonprofit status is now officially pending!
9/20/2003 Update: At this time, Coventry does not have any birds ready for adoption. Also, we need a few months to regroup, get a few aviaries built, and won't be accepting birds until January 2004. If it is an emergency, however, don't hesitate to contact us.
We want to extend a HUGE thanks to Alberta at Jose Antonio's. (that has no website.) They are located at 870 Hartnell Avenue in Redding, and they have fabulous garden stuff. I've never walked out of there without something really big on my perpetual wish list (like a fountain.) Alberta brought us several Cal Cages and a bunch of great toys, and made a lot of birds REALLY HAPPY.
Also, a HUGE thanks to Wendy Birkbeck and Roy Astley Fryer of South Africa. We received 9 fabulous lithographs to be used as a fundraiser. This fundraiser is being planned as we speak. Roy does WONDERFUL paintings of wild animals (especially parrots!) Roy also leads African Safari tours.
Another HUGE thanks to Planet Pleasures. They also don't have a website, but they're the great people who brought the bird world the Parrot Piñata, and Bamboozlers. They're great toys! Don't forget to check them out. The Piñatas are one of our birds' particular favorites, and despite how fragile they look... they aren't.
